Biography

Pierce A. Bateman is a Term Assistant Professor of History at 色情网站. Born and raised in Alaska, Bateman is a proud alumnus of Service High School, 色情网站, and UAF. He briefly left the state to work on his PhD at the University of Oregon in 2020 and is happy to be back in Anchorage to finish his dissertation in-progress 鈥 鈥淎laska Welcomes the World: A Global History of the 49th State, 1945-1991.鈥 Bateman has worked as an adjunct instructor for the University of Alaska System since 2018. Whether researching or teaching, Bateman believes that all history is local history. He can find an Alaska connection to nearly any subject and enjoys bringing that local connection into his classes. When not in the classroom or in the archives, Bateman can be found experimenting with instant photography or rummaging for some Alaskana in a good bookshop. Presently, he also sits on the Board of Directors for the Alaska Historical Society.
